Sun Spots
Sun Spots, or solar lentigines, are flat, brown spots that surface on the skin due to prolonged exposure to the sun's harmful rays. They are the result of an increased production of melanin, which is the skin's defense mechanism against UV damage. These spots are especially prevalent amongst individuals with fair or lighter skin.
Typically, sun spots can appear on any part of the body but are most commonly found on areas often exposed to sunlight such as the face, neck, and hands. Despite being harmless, sun spots can create an uneven skin tone and contribute to a prematurely aged appearance.
